Ahead of the official opening, a Romanian delegation led by H.E. Mr. Alexandru Victor Micula, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Ukraine, visited Lviv City Council for a meeting with Mayor Andrii Sadovyi.

The Honorary Consulate of Romania in Lviv is located at 8, Dmytra Dontsova Street and is led by Rostyslav Vovk, a Lviv-based entrepreneur and co-owner of the Enzym Lviv Yeast Plant and the Ukrainian pet food manufacturer Kormotech.

According to Rostyslav Vovk, the opening of the consulate is an important step toward deepening Ukrainian–Romanian relations, particularly in the economic sphere.

«The key priority is the development of economic cooperation, as its current level between the Lviv region and Romania remains insufficient. I see clear opportunities to change this through new innovative projects and partnerships, including those involving the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center,» he noted.

During the meeting at City Council, the parties discussed Lviv’s international cooperation with cities worldwide, the city’s life under wartime conditions, cultural development, and veteran rehabilitation. Mayor Andriy Sadovyy emphasized the importance of supporting and expanding rehabilitation facilities and invited the Romanian delegation to visit the UNBROKEN center.

Ambassador Alexandru Victor Micula highlighted Lviv’s special significance for Romanian society. «I intend to visit Lviv as often as possible. It is important for us to witness your resilience and endurance. We strive to support Ukraine in every possible way, while also learning a great deal from you. We are implementing joint projects to assist you. Lviv is a historic city Romania shares deep cultural, historical, and economic ties with», the Ambassador said.

Mayor Andriy Sadovyy, emphasized that the opening of the Romanian consulate in Lviv is a strong signal of international support for Ukraine.

«Lviv is open to cooperation. We are ready to share our experience in resilience, innovation, and day-to-day work under wartime conditions. To be ready for different scenarios is a key to future development,» the Mayor said.

Economic cooperation was also discussed. Romanian representatives noted that more and more Ukrainian companies are entering the Romanian market, and there is strong potential to further expand this cooperation.
